**Job Functions**:
The role requires someone who can seamlessly mesh technical know-how with business acumen to help navigate R&D cloud and physical computing needs, including infrastructure design, implementation, maintenance, support, and capacity planning.

Not only can you help us connect the dots and evolve our cloud capabilities over time, but you’re also evolving your own capabilities as an engineer and keeping an eye on developments that can support our expansion and help us implement those, too.
- Software/Hardware Optimization, such as performance tuning for bespoke hardware, code refactoring, accelerated ML toolkit and libraries such as CUDA, and continuous integration of codes and ML models.
- Model/Software Development Tools and Environment, such as Git, Linux and python package management, pytorch lightning, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Job/Scheduler Orchestration and Integration, knowledgeable in automating and integrating machine learning jobs with major resource schedulers such as SLURM, Grid Engine, AWS Batch, and Parallel Cluster to maximize throughput, performance, utilization, efficiency, and cost effectiveness for ML/AI training and prediction
- Vendor Outreach, possess the ability to partner with leading vendors or partners to explore, experiment, and pilot proof-of-concept studies to help bring in, or deliver leading-edge, differentiating ML/AI capabilities for BMS Research

**Job Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a scientific discipline in chemistry-, biology-, or medical-related field, or relevant industry experience.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, organized, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals.
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in supporting on-premises and cloud infrastructure using Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (BASH, SH, CSH) in Linux/UNIX,
- Solid understanding of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
- Familiar with HPC utilizing SGE, Amazon Parallel Cluster, Batch, Docker, and Google (GCP).
- Working knowledge of one or more of the following: R, Python, XML, JSON, YAML
- Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores.
- Extensive experience with open-source technology, scripting and system engineering.
- An understanding of writing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certifications a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $114,000 - $152,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the where the job is performed.

Final individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
