**Role summary**:
As a Principal DBA you will lead and manage others in addition to providing thought leadership and strategic focus. You will be required manage stakeholders and lead projects with delivery through agile methodologies by decomposing features into stories and prioritization of the backlog. You will embed continuous improvement and act as an evangelist to educate and promote the better use of data to the organization whilst supporting and managing the expert use of the databases. You will ensure compliance and documentation and provide guidance and training to downstream consumers. You will also develop, coach and mentor more junior members and the team and establish a culture of excellence. As a domain expert and a senior within the function you will act as a point of escalation when required and provide leadership where necessary.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Exceptional knowledge of traditional Oracle DB Stack (10g onwards) with proven history of supporting such systems in highly complex environments.
- Experience Creating RDBMS Systems given a specific Server Spec, Capacity Requirements & Network set up.
- Specific Knowledge of how to Install, Administer and Maintain Oracle across Windows and Linux as well as OCI
- Knowledge of how to Design and Setup Test, Dev and Staging environments to operate alongside production systems in cloud and on-prem
- Design and implement Users and access permissions for Development, Testing and design, including build and maintain automated processes for live
- Experience with Database Backup and recovery planning and testing at an enterprise level.
- Extensive knowledge of Database Monitoring (performance, backups etc)
- Experience of working with internal and external data feeds to live and non-live environments.
- Knowledge of how to troubleshoot database and infrastructure specific issues in Oracle environments
- Experience in Database Development with PL-SQL
- Proven working history of Patching and upgrades
- Understanding of Oracle licence model and implementation into production environment

**Skills / experience**:

- Experience in Data Warehousing and Data Modelling
- Working knowledge of Data Guard and RAC
