**Descripción**: The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. - Barcelona**What We Are Looking for**:

- ISGlobal is seeking a researcher who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project entitled “Salud Planetaria: desafíos y oportunidades en el Norte de la Amazonía Boliviana”. The project, which will be implemented in the Amazon region of Bolivia, Department of Beni, Municipality of Riberalta, contemplates a comprehensive proposal focused on planetary health care, encompassing actions to improve the health of the population, with special focus on women's health and the fight against gender violence, actions for environmental protection and restoration, actions for sustainable and environmentally regenerative productive development, as well as cross-cutting actions of denunciation and political advocacy to combat the climate crisis.
- We are particularly interested in a motivated and proactive researcher that will also lead the Health Impact Assessment study of the effects of deforestation on a wide range of health outcomes in the region.**Field research**:

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop capacities and knowledge in the constant analysis of the changes in the epidemiological profile of the population caused by the climate crisis and, in particular, the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest.
- Develop research on the impact of deforestation on the health of the population of the northern Amazon region of Bolivia
- Implement a course on "Planetary Health" in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Beni (UAB) and the Institute of Global Health (ISG) of Barcelona.
- Transversal actions together with local partners and the rest of the holders to ensure participation, coordination, operation, monitoring, communication and evaluation
- Implement a strategy for the scientific dissemination of research and lessons learned during the project.

**Specific Duties**:

- Literature review on the effects of deforestation for human health
- Development of a study protocol to study the association between deforestation and health effects in the northern Amazon region of Bolivia
- Data collection, analysis and discussion of results
- Preparation of drafts and manuscripts for scientific publications and policy reports
- Dissemination of study results (scientific publication and dissemination among relevant stakeholders)
- Definition of the structure and contents of the diploma in planetary health
- Participate in the selection and training of the UAB faculty involved the diploma in planetary health
- Teaching (as guest professor) in planetary health diploma

**Auxiliar task**:

- This job description reflects the present requirements of the post but may evolve at any time in the future as duties and responsibilities change and/or develop providing there is appropriate consultation with the post-holder.
- Training and experience /Qualifications:

- Postgraduate education in Planetary Health or related fields
- Teaching experience
- Basic knowledge of statistics and epidemiology
- Experience in statistical and/or econometric and/or epidemiological analyses

**Skills**:

- Proven ability to prioritize, work with deadlines and under pressure.
- Organized, high attention to detail; ability to summarize and communicate.

**Training and negotiation ability.**:

- Proactive attitude to identify strengths and weaknesses of the target organizations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team in an international multicultural environment.
- The post holder will adhere to ISGlobal principles contained in People management policy, including Equity, diversity and health safety. The post holder will respect, and accountable to ensure ISGlobal policies and procedures.

**Language level**:

- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish
- Advanced level of English, spoken and written

**Conditions**:

- Duration: 17.5 months
- Location: [12.5 months in Barcelona/6 months in Bolivia]

- Salary Range: 26.407€
