Job Context:
The Airbus Cost Engineering Aerostructure for Wing Moveables HTP VTP team is offering a challenging position for a skilled Design and/or Mechanical engineer who is ready to support Aerostructure products of all current and future Airbus aircraft on cost effectiveness, optimized technical solutions, price negotiation and future technologies assessment.

Aerostructures Cost Engineering is responsible for estimating the full aircraft perimeter for all programs (R&T, Single Aisle family, A220, A330, A350XWB, A380, Beluga) both NRC (Non-Recurring Costs) and RC (Recurring Costs), Make and Buy perimeters.

Cost Engineering is a key enabler for Airbus to reach competitive costing targets for all programs and pricing agreements with suppliers (new contracts, claims, pricing models) and to take balanced operational and strategic decisions on a wide range of manufacturing and procurement topics.

Using detailed, up to date knowledge of aircraft manufacturing processes, Cost Engineering provides a neutral, independent view of manufacturing costs and actively supports supplier negotiations and Airbus decision making on the full perimeter of current and future manufacturing processes/technologies.

Job Responsibilities:

- Responsible for delivering Horizontal Tail Plane (HTP) RC and NRC should-price estimates, for all Airbus programmes, to Procurement interfaces and acting as a business partner and advisor in order to support negotiation phases with suppliers.
- Representing the Cost Engineering team in front of the Rear Fuselage and Empennage Multi Functional Team (MFT) to agree on the priorities and planning for RC and NRC related work to be performed in best alignment between customer needs and Costing constraints, proposing alternatives when needed (delivery date, estimation methodology).
- Support MFT strategy development. Lead the gap analysis to identify negotiation levers and support negotiations treating all cost areas including manufacturing times and efficiencies, hourly rates and uplifts
- Responsible for delivering HTP (as a priority, but as well support on Wing, Moveables and VTP) costs estimates to Programme interfaces in order to influence future Aircraft derivatives decisions. To be an active member of the programme plateau teams.
- Guide engineering in the specification and design of new HTP components with a focus on keeping recurring costs down while maximizing real value. Provide guidance for Go / No Go decision making for Design to Cost / Manufacturing to Cost ideas
- Responsible for using Digital Costing tools and models, ensuring estimates are harmonized and consistent with latest references and ways of working.
- Responsible for pioneering the future by supporting the cost models creation in order to better influence aircraft designs as early as possible in the product development cycle. These cost models allow us to estimate the product (Wing, HTP, VTP) or a technology (forging, composite, soft/hard metal machining, assembly, etc.).
- Responsible for guaranteeing the quality, reliability and neutrality of the costing procedure and results.

Job Requirements:

- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Horizontal Tail Plane product Design and industrial set-up knowledge
- Manufacturing experience (FAL, section assembly, component assembly)
- Knowledge of best practice detail part manufacturing processes and their costs: metallic, machined and fabricated, composite, assembly
- Knowledge and understanding of related HTP jigs, tools and machines.
- Design to cost experience and mindset
- Ability to understand and explain design, manufacturing and costing details, while at the same time being able to step back to get the macro view for the complete business
- Very good strategic and analytical skills incl. data analysis, able to breakdown complex topics, make root-cause analysis.
- Team player with entrepreneurial mindset
- Good communication and presentation skills at all levels
- Strong ability to interact and influence
- Fluency in English. Any additional languages will be viewed positively.
