Overview:
**Institutional Context**:
IE University (IEU) is a private university with campuses located in Segovia and Madrid (Spain). IEU programs are run in English and are compliant with the terms of the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Accords).

The University is comprised by five schools, including the School of Politics, Economic and Global Affairs (SPEGA), with a portfolio that includes several bachelor and master programs in international relations, economics, and sustainable development.

The School of Politics, Economic and Global Affairs has established a new Center for Innovation in Global Politics & Economics with the goal of consolidating the different initiatives and observatories that currently constitute its knowledge ecosystem. The new Center aims to raise the School’s applied research and provide innovative solutions to today´s most pressing global challenges.

**General Function**:
The Director will provide leadership and guidance to the recently created Center, reporting to the Dean of the School, and working very closely with the Vice Dean of Management & Development. His/her main role will be to consolidate the Center’s activities and enhancing its portfolio, driving day-to-day activities. Together with the School´s senior management team, he/she will define and coordinate the main areas of research, provide academic guidance, ensure the quality of outputs,

and put the Center in a solid financial setting during its initial phase.

We are looking for an outstanding mid-to late career professional coming from a background in academia, policymaking, or policy-oriented research, preferably in the field of global governance, geopolitics, geoeconomics or public policy. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires a strong entrepreneurial mindset. Experience in fundraising, applied research, academic partnerships and institutional building is desirable. Management skills are also critical.

The post will be located in Madrid.

**Responsibilities**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Be a key member of the School’s senior management team, participating in relevant meetings and activities of SPEGA.
- Completing and implementing the existing strategy for the Center in 2023 and developing its longer-term strategic planning.
- Supporting the applied research footprint of the University, and in particular of SPEGA.
- Design and oversee the Center’s research programs by engaging the right scholars and developing the appropriated partnerships. Provide academic guidance and teach in the Centre’s future executive programs.
- Oversee and support the organization of conferences, seminars, and other activities.
- Plan and execute the Center’s fundraising strategy, rising the funds needed to secure the financially viability of the Center.
- Expand the outreach portfolio and network of the Center, ensuring the public visibility and policy impact of its activities.
- Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation.
- Supervise the financial development and budget of the Center.
- Develop a communication plan for the Center.
- Manage relationships/agreements with external partners.
- Manage the Centre’s staff.

Qualifications:
**Requirements**:

- PhD or Master degree from top university.
- Proven relevant management experience.
- In depth knowledge of the research realm, especially in the spaces of geopolitics and geoeconomics.
- Broad intellectual interests.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Outstanding communication and social skills, including mastery in the preparation of visual presentations.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
- Fluent in English and Spanish
