**Location Description**
- The Seed Facilitator will live in the city of La Paz, which is considered the seat of government of Bolivia. It is one of the most important political, financial, social, academic and cultural centers of the country. La Paz is the third most populous city in Bolivia, behind Santa Cruz and El Alto.
La Paz is in a canyon created by the Choqueyapu River and is surrounded by the high mountains of the altiplano, including the snow-capped Illimani. The average height of 3650 m.s.n.m (11975.07 feet), and a high-altitude subtropical climate, with rainy summers and dry winters.
MCC Bolivia's head office is located in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, about 850 km from Cochabamba (528 miles), but the Seed Facilitator will be based in La Paz to be closer to Seed participants and partners who will be located mainly in the western regions of Bolivia, the Seed program will have a mix of rural and urban workers. In addition, it is important for MCC to have members of the MCC team located in La Paz for support with logístical, administrative tasks and connections with local networks and platforms.

**Qualifications**
- Ability to understand, speak, read and write Spanish and/or English. Willingness to learn the other one of these two languages if not already fluent.
- Knowledge of and/or interest in the Bolivian context.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, theology or related fields.
- Cross-cultural/international experience.
- Knowledge of or interest in transformative education.
- Maturity in relational skills.
- Strong listening skills.
- Ability to build bridges in the midst of differences.
- Strong ability to work with and facilitate dialogue amongst a very diverse, intercultural team.
- Ability to work in collaboration with the MCC team and local partners, each with its own interests, perspectives and needs.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner, as well as with a team.
- Knowledge of global issues and the ability to connect them with service and social community change.
- Solid organizational skills and willingness to work at administrative details
- Willingness to travel frequently by bus and accept the sometimes-rustic realities of the Bolivian context.

Invitations to serve with MCC are contingent on the successful outcome of criminal background check(s).**Job Synopsis**
- This position involves the planning, organization and implementation of a 2-year service, reflection and peacebuilding program with an intercultural team of young adults in the complex and enriching context of Bolivia. This position will be supervised by the MCC Representatives for Bolivia.
What is Seed?
The Seed program consists of three main components: service, reflection and peacebuilding. Seed Bolivia brings together 5 to 7 young people from the United States, Canada, Bolivia and other Latin American countries to serve for two years with MCC partners in Bolivia while actively and intentionally reflecting on their context. The program encourages participants to discern the roles they can play as people of faith in the mutual transformation of societies and each other.
MCC’s Seed program began in Colombia as a pilot program in 2009 and has completed several cycles. MCC Bolivia started the Seed program in 2014, completing now four cycles. This position will be responsible for facilitating the fifth cycle of Seed in Bolivia.
The Seed program in Bolivia has had a strategic purpose in expanding MCC’s accompaniment into the western part of the country. For the past several years most of MCC Bolivia’s partners had been concentrated in eastern Bolivia, but this is now changing with several partners that have received Seed workers and other forms of accompaniment from MCC in the highlands. Seed has successfully brought MCC’s accompaniment into western Bolivia allowing the programming to interact with the cultural diversity and socio-political realities distinct to this region.
