**About the Role**:
The Vodafone Italy _“Business Intelligence and Big Data”_ team is the owner of the Vodafone Italy data stack which includes Business Intelligence and Big Data system. It provides data and services to different stakeholders from predefined reports for business users, to self-service reporting for advanced BI users and analytics platform for data scientists. The platform manages answers to multiple business needs leveraging on standard BI and ETL tools as well as on modern real time data streaming tools.

The **Solution Big Data Engineer **is responsible for the design of data model representing the company’s information asset. You will tightly work with source systems owners and business users to define the best solution for the company. You will then move on with BI development team to implement the designed solution.

As a **Solution Big Data Engineer **you´ll be in charge of the following responsibilities:

- Understand the data, and how to model them inside the BI environment to create values from information, ensuring data quality
- Make the data model sustainable from ETL and performance points of view
- Work with business users to ensure we can support and anticipate the company's data needs
- Define the best modeling solution to make data easily accessible and reusable
- Work hands-on with ETL development team to develop the designed solution
- Collect requirements and come up with technical solutions to bring them to life
- Comply with company data governance, data standards, and software development methodology in the delivery
- Provide input to long-range data warehousing plans & designs current ETL systems to be in alignment with the long-range objectives
- Recommend approaches, lead design and create solid technical solutions for complex business scenarios

**Core competencies, knowledge, and experience**:

- Understand business requirements to enhance the systems and provide the necessary data in the best way according to the IT strategy and the business needs.
- Data model design skills to create new analysis areas and integrate them in the semantic layer
- Standardized modeling technique to simplify the learning curve and guarantee consistency in the data model.
- Data quality to avoid redundancy and pattern that may lead to data replication and misalignment
- ETL development

**What do you bring?**:

- Experience in **data model design** in relational and no relational DBMS
- High Knowledge of SQL, NOSQL (preferably Teradata, Cloudera and distributed database systems)
- Knowledge of cloud solutions: GCP or AWS or Azure.
- ** Nice to have**:GCP.
- Data Modeling using 3NF, Kimball or Inmon methodologies
- Past experience/collaboration in BI pipeline design projects
- Knowledge of Microstrategy and/or other data reporting tools
- Experience in building data models and dashboards
- Foundations of cloud and Unix is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering and/or other STEM degrees
- Working experience in similar roles
- Attitude to plan and organize work to deliver project as agreed
- Great communication skills and stakeholder’s management
- Fluent in English (both speaking and writing)

**Nice to have**: Italian language
- (preferred) Knowledge of Cloud Data Architecture for DataWareHousing
- Proactive in the day by day working tasks and attitude in acquiring new skills
