**ROLE SUMMARY**:

- King's College, The British School of Murcia, one of the most sought after British Schools in Spain, is seeking to appoint a **Deputy Head** **to join us on a permanent basis in August 2024.**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide leadership and guidance to the heads of section (Infants / Primary / Secondary)
- Continually develop and maintain the school self evaluation documents and processes
- Coordinate the formulation and development of the school’s aims and objectives
- To establish policies and procedures to achieve the school’s aims and objectives
- To allocate staff resources to enable the school to achieve its aims and objectives
- Oversee the effective implementation of the quality assurance framework
- Develop and implement the school’s appraisal processes
- Implement whole school procedures for the accurate collection, analysis and communication of student progress and attainment
- Identify staffing needs and run recruitment processes to fill them
- In conjunction with the section heads, coordinate the whole school calendar and work to ensure the overall smooth running of the school

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE**:
**Suitable qualifications**
- Bachelor Degree (essential)
- Qualified Teacher Status (essential)
- Professional development to prepare for leadership: NPQSL / CPML or equivalent (essential)
- Masters Degree in Education or Leadership (desirable)
- Professional development to prepare for headship: NPQH / CPAH or equivalent (desirable)

**Desirable experience**
- At least 2 years’ experience of successful leadership and management across a section or phase: Infants / Primary / Secondary. Or as a whole school senior leader such as Head of Teaching & Learning or Head of Academic / Pastoral.
- 5 years’ teaching experience in British National Curriculum schools either in the UK or
- Internationally- A knowledge and understanding of school self-evaluation and development planning
- Experience of line managing members of staff who line manage others in turn
- Experience of contributing to staff development
- Experience in strategy planning and delivery
- At least 2 years of experience in IB DP
