We are actively looking for a Mid-Level Coastal Engineer to join our Valencia, SP office. This role will work on plans and designs for urban waterfront and coastal structures projects, including marinas, marine terminals, urban waterfront developments and cruise ship facilities, wetland restoration, dredging, shore protection structures, and flood walls.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Designs construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.
- Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.
- Supports the analysis of project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs.
- Creates feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.
- Develops construction specifications, plans, and schedules to produce engineering documents.
- Researches and assists in complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
- Successfully support ongoing Coastal / Water practice through contacts and business development efforts working with Local Environmental agencies as well as private sector clients
- Implementing scientific and regulatory tasks for projects to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and policies.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; required
- Master's degree in Civil or Coastal Engineering; required
- 8+ years of experience in civil, water, or coastal engineering; required
- Professional licensure
- Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category preferred
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Availability and willingness to travel
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
