Solution Architect

**Overview**
As part of our on-going commitment to support development and growth across Amey through innovative technology & data enabled solutions, we are seeking a Solution Architect to join our Strategy and Architecture practice within Group IT.
The role will be home based with requirements to travel to our Liverpool, Birmingham or Oxford offices for face-to-face meetings when needed. UK wide travel to other Amey/client offices will also be required from time to time.

**What will this role involve?**
Producing quality High Level Solution Designs that cover all the key architectural domains (Enterprise Architecture, Business, Security, Infrastructure, Integration and Data) that can be used as the informing artefact to lead to detailed design
Representing Solution proposals at the Architectural Review Board on the behalf of business sponsors, providing the appropriate documentation to seek an approval of the solution with the lowest possible risk profile. The types of proposals that are expected are Pre-Sales Solution Views, New/Replacement Solution Architectures (Full or segment) and New Contract mobilisation Solution Landscapes.
Working with Pre-Sales teams to design and cost potential new contract Solution Architectures
Working with project/mobilisations teams to document the required High Level Solution Architecture considering all key architecture domains to inform the detailed design for the implementation
Actively engaging and representing Solution Architecture within activate project Design Authorities thus being activate in the governance of Architecture Designs through their lifecycle
Supporting the business in the selection process of new/replacement Solution components through the Solutions Options Appraisal process
Supporting the maturity of the Enterprise Architecture repository view by adding new, replacement and updated architecture views based on approved Solution Architectures
Being available to provide consultation support Amey wide on IT Systems/Solutions Direction aligned to Enterprise Architecture strategy
**What are we looking for?**
IT architecture experience or a related discipline and/or relevant experience as an Analyst or Line of Business Application Developer
Experience of working within enterprise digital transformation projects, in an architect role
Experience of directly working within one or more of the IT architecture domains would be advantageous
Demonstrable business analysis and analytical skills
Experience in preparing and ideally costing IT solution proposals
Experience in an IT consultancy or pre-sales environment highly desirable
Excellent presentation skills both verbal and written
Technology / product and service portfolio awareness related to a market sector, ideally within one or more sectors in which Amey operates
Designing/delivering solutions using one or more well-known technology platforms or COTS packages
Experience working within IT ideally in an analysis, research and/or assistance role
Experience working with large IT service providers, system integrators and/or vendors
Experience of working within a corporate governance framework
Degree in IT or equivalent related discipline and/or training for these qualifications
Customer facing, relationship management and senior stakeholder engagement capability
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, MODAF) preferred, ideally with valid certification
Understanding of recent technology trends and how this might be applied in the workplace, ideally applicable to sectors in which Amey operates
Use of cloud services (e.g. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) within enterprise solutions
Strong information security knowledge/awareness would be advantageous
