Catalysis and Adsorption Laboratory Technician

Maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring its correctness. Operation and managing communication with companies in charge of solving problems.

Train and assist scientific staff (predoctoral students, junior researchers, senior researchers, other technicians, etc.) in the safe use of equipment and lavoratories.

Ensure good practices that guarantee order and cleanliness in laboratories.

Assist scientific staff in the acquisition of new equipment, consumables, etc.

Ensure the uninterrupted supply of centralised gas, for example by controllling gas consumption and managing the replacement of new cylinders.

Manage and organize content in warehouses, workshops and reagent cabinets.

Organize inventory tasks necessary to control the stock of consumables (reagents, personal protective equipment (PPE), consumables,etc.)

Management of maintenance operations and calibration of laboratory equipment that need this type of action, such as balances, pipettes, etc.

Elaborate experimental tasks sucha as analysis patterns, sample wighing, preparation and analysis of gas adsorption isotherms, for example.

Management of waste generated in the laboratory.

Qualifications required

To be assessed:
2 years of experience as a reserarch laboratory technician in chemistry or industrial laboratory in the sector.

Experience in construction, commissioning or operation of reactors and laboratory-scale facilities.

Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Knowledge of gas induction systmes, pressure regulators and cylinders.

Experience in start-up or operation of pilot plants.

Knowledge os Spanish or Portuguese.

Knowledge of English that allows interaction in the work environment or level equivalent to b2.

Experimental skills in the synthesis of chemical substances or materials (adsorbents, cataysts, etc.).
- Experience with analytical techniques such as a X-ray diffracion, electron microscopy (scanning -SEM.or transmission -TEM), spectroscopy (FTIR, RAMAN, UV, Absorption; etc.), chemical composition (HCNS), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), or similar.

Experience with gas chromatographic (GC) or liquid chromatographic (HPLC) or mass spectrometric (MS) techniques.

Computer and/or electronic skills at user level.

Experience in LabView.

Learning flexibility of different types of software.

Management of tools for assembly and basic repairs.

**Requisitos**
At least higher level training in Laboratory Technician or demonstrable professional experience that qualifies him/her to perform the function.

Valuable:

- Computer and/or electronics courses.
- Management of Microsoft Office.
- Databases
- Knowledge of R+D in the field of energy storage
- Experience as a laboratory technician (including internship) in institute, university or industry in areas related to chemistry and the safe use and handling of solid, liquid and gaseous substandes; for example, flammable substances such as hydrogen or toxic substances such as carbon monoxide.

Experience or knowledge in the management of any of the following analytical and characterization techniques will be required:

- Adsoption of gases for the determination of textural properties (BET, pore volume, DTP).
- Termogravimetric analysis (TGA).
- Catalytic test in fixed or fluidized bed, or similar.
- Structural and chemical solids such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
- Infrared sprectroscopy (FTIR, DRIFTS) and Raman, or chemical analysis).
- Good oral and written skills in English
