The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) has received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code).

The role

About the EGA

Whom would we like to hire?

Professional experience

Must Have
- You have a strong background in Bioinformatics applied to human data (3+ years of experience)
- You have proven international experience and skills in leadership and coordination (of projects and team members)
- You have experience in managing, processing, performing quality control and analysis of large amounts of Next Generation Sequencing
- You have experience in pipeline development using current bioinformatic tools

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
- You have experience with large-scale data analysis (e.g. genome-wide association studies or population genomics) using genetic and phenotypic datasets (preferably hands-on experience working with large datasets such as UK Biobank)
- You have experience in supervised & unsupervised machine-learning algorithms, Data analytics
- You have knowledge of databases: SQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Neo4J, etc. Having database management experience is a major plus
- You have experience in Data Curation (genomics, experimental or clinical metadata), Quality checks, Data mining and harmonisation

Education and training
- You hold a PhD in Bioinformatics (or similar discipline), or a strong equivalent working experience

Languages
- You are fluent in English, which will be the language used for all work written and oral communications
- Spanish and/or Catalan might be considered a plus, but are not required

- Highly proactive and passionate about the projects you take part in
- Ability to work with people with different professional backgrounds
- Structured and organised, able to coordinate overlapping tasks for you and for your team
- Accurate and detail-oriented
- Enthusiastic team player
- Able to give impacting oral presentations

The Offer
- Contract duration: Long-term contract, linked to the duration of the project
- Weekly schedule: Hybrid position (this is an in-person position with the possibility to have 2 days of working from home)
- Estimated annual gross salary: an attractive salary will be offered, commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
