**The Role**
We operate 4 Waste Treatment Plants across the UK, turning waste into energy and supporting the reduction of the amount of waste sent to landfill. We have a unique opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join our Operational Excellence team. The purpose of the role will be to support the systems development, implementation, and successful operation for the Waste Treatment business. You will also provide a professional engineering support service to the operational teams. This role is critical to the successful implementation of the asset management, data and efficiency tools, and the transformation of the division to become a data driven led efficient business. The role will best suit an experienced control systems engineer who is comfortable both working with senior and delivery teams in industrial environments.
This is a home-based role but will require regular nationwide travel as business demands. Geographical area will cover Cambridgeshire, Isle of Wight, Milton Keynes and North Yorkshire at present but may evolve in the future.
**Key Responsibilities**
Responsible for the administration to ensure operational running of Industrial Control Systems, Operational Technology (included but not limited to CCTV, HVAC, Weighbridges, Routing and Tracking, etc), asset and data systems, and any other systems the team might be taking on.
Provide management information reporting on performance of systems.
Coordination of resources to support operational teams while balancing workload across team members.
Understand and review staff and equipment efficiency through optimum use of management systems.
Manage, monitor and participate in the implementation of the divisional projects and tools required as part of the divisional objectives set up.
Ensure the correct framework is available to team members for creating and maintaining technical documentation, work instructions, procedures or any other documentation, including the support for the creation and maintenance of Integrated Management Systems.
Ensure the correct framework is available and communicated for Governance on use of systems and management of data.
Proactively monitor and implement continuous improvements within the division, sharing best practice and following the Standard Operational Model principles.
Understand the processes involved in the facility to help mapping the maintenance requirements that will form part of the asset management system and data sources to track performance.
Capture maintenance requirements, ensuring data integrity and validation.
Data capture, validation, upload into systems, and testing and roll out into production of the platforms, including CMMS, Permit to Work, Data Reporting, Dashboards, Waste Transactions, and any other related to the division.
Support the implementation of stock and parts management processes and systems.
Collaborate with the maintenance, operations and construction teams to deliver on time the tasks required while ensuring safety at all times.
Provide training and support on the use of the platforms and Operational Technology.
Support with the optimization of maintenance scheduling and the creation of robust process maps and regular audits.
Assess the performance of the equipment, identify areas of concern and recommend improvements. Liaise with all stakeholders including senior management, operations, maintenance, and the technology providers regarding problems, solutions and improvements.
Develop, manage and support the delivery deliver a plan for the company’s industrial control systems and other operational technology, liaising with all stakeholders to efficiently deliver resilience, smooth operation and futureproofing of the plants and managing vendors where required.
Develop and manage secure networks for controls and operational technology to create secure environments while allowing for remote connections and big data export.
To design new optimised processes and program them on existing or new control systems and other operational technology.
Design, build and roll out of data analytics tools (mainly in PowerBI) that bring meaningful insights to the business and drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Manage divisional dashboards, including reports, data sources and repositories, and related infrastructure (PowerBI admin).
Support the wider team in any tasks that might be required to meet the goals set up by the company.
Any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Director of Operational Excellence or the company’s senior management team.
**Experience & Skills**
Degree in Electronics/Controls/Electrical/Computing engineering or similar
Experience in Control Systems, asset management including CMMS, data analysis, data visualisation solutions, and reporting in waste treatment, power or a similar industry.
Experience with data analysis and reporting basic programming, energy from waste, waste recycling and industrial processes.
