VHIR offers a vacant position for a Graduated technician within the Liver Disease group, to enroll in the research line
focused on studying biomarkers in hepatitis D virus (HDV).

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Education and qualifications**:
**Required: -**
- Degree in Biotechnology_
- Possession of a PhD will not be assessed.
- Fluency in Spanish, Catalan, English

**Desired: -**
- English certification (B2)_
- Master’s course on molecular biology and/or biomedicine, already completed or to be completed during the
current academic year (2023-24).

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required: -**

Previous and demonstrable experience in studying microRNAs in the context of a viral infection.
- Experience in cellular (cell culture, isolation of PBMCs by gradient separation, transfection, etc) and molecular
biology (PCR, qPCR, digitalPCR, sequencing)
- Experience in next-generation sequencing, especially focused on virology and virus genotyping
- Knowledge of hepatitis viruses, especially hepatitis B and delta viruses

Previous publications or communications in congresses demonstrating the technical requirements above
mentioned (they must be cited in the CV)

**Desired: -**

Experience in the use of the next-generation sequencing platform MiSeq (Illumina) will be specially valued
microbiology will be also considered
- Previous experience in using flow cytometry, especially spectral cytometry will be also specially valued
- Ability to analyze results by using software such as R or GraphPad will be considered
- Good communication skills will be greatly appreciated

**Main responsibilities and duties: -**

Collaborate on a study aimed at identifying biomarkers in the context of hepatitis delta virus infectionGive support in processing samples from HDV patients (PBMCs isolation, FNA processing, CD3 isolation)
- Quantify by digital PCR selected miRNAs in plasma of HDV patients
- Perform _in vitro_ studies to inspect the role of the selected miRNAs in viral replication and control
- Fine tune a multicolor panel for the analysis of the immunophenotype of HDV patients PBMC
- Analyze the results and elaborate summary and scientific abstracts and/or publications

**Labour conditions: -**

Full-time position: 40h/week.
