Fcas2023 Electromagnetic Engineer

A position as Signature Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid).

The successful applicant will join EME, Antenna Systems and Signatures Engineering SP department.

Tasks and accountabilities:

- Contribution to the development of the technologies that will drive the design of future military platforms.
- These technologies are aimed to control, reduce and/or exploit the signatures (mainly radar, IR) of a platform.
- Management all the aspects related to the development and implementation of these performances (low observability, stealth).
- Analyse and identify characteristics, properties, behaviours (physical, functional), and propose technical solutions.
- Management the maturation of the required technologies to implement and fly those solutions

**Knowledge and skills**
- Degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics with focus on Electromagnetics (Radiofrequency / Infrared)
- Motivated about developing new technologies, facing complexity and multifunctional/multinational teams.
- Background in electromagnetism theory and physics.
- Electromagnetic design skills (radiofrequency, microwave devices, antenna, or others)
- Knowledge about integration at platform level is valued (complete cycle: specification, validation, verification, certification/qualification) of components with electromagnetic requirements (sensors, antennas, radomes, radar absorbing materials and structures, etc.), a mutidisplicinary vision and system engineering knowledge is also valued.
- Programing of tools/scripts: Python, Fortran, C++.
- Experience in the use of complex and advanced tools for electromagnetic simulation and modelling. CAD management, computational tools and postprocessing.
- Knowledge about radar technology (e. g. signal procesing), working on signature concepts (radar and infrared) modelling techniques, and the physics underneath.
- Knowledge of radar system engineering.
- Radiofrequency measurements (RCS/Antennas/EMC) is valued: signature measurement data processing algorithm design, such as ISAR.
- Good Technical skills, familiar with R/T and R& projects.

**Scope**
- Management the development of new technologies related to the signature discipline.
- Design of new solutions for the control and reduction of signature levels. Integrated in a multifunctional and multinational team, responsible of the electromagnetic requirements.
- Management of the activities related to Signature System Engineering.
- In the medium term, it is expected to be involved in activities related to the complete life cycle in the development of a stealth platform: high level requirements identification, solution design (from concept, to prototype and fly), supplier management, definition of installation requirements, qualification strategy, contribution to multifunctional trade—offs, maintenance strategy, etc.
