**Responsibilities**:

- Design efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) layer scheduling algorithms for heterogeneous dense Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), based on existing mobile RF standards such as IEEE 802.11
- Design of MAC scheduling algorithms for IEEE 802.11 networks
- Investigate on ML/AI-based MAC scheduler algorithms
- Experimental validation of the designed MAC scheduling algorithms in a set of reference scenarios of interest using Network Simulation tools, and (iv) detect and extract Key Performance Indicator (KPI) to evaluate the performance of the designed MAC scheduling algorithms
- Planned secondments: The ESR will visit to Universitat de València (UV) (3 months - embedded system development and electronic design strategies), Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (HHI) (3 months - MAC algorithms e. g. based on coordinated OFDMA), and Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) (3 months - SDN control plane implementations for MAC protocols)

Qualifications:

- Must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers (Early-Stage Researchers)
- Be of any nationality, but not having resided or carried out their main activity in Spain for more than 1 year in the past 3 years (Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention are not taken into account)
- Have not been awarded a PhD degree yet
- Very good communication skills in English
- Good theoretical and practical experience in wireless communication systems
- Experience in C++, MATLAB, and Python programming
- Good theoretical and practical experience with ML/AI algorithms
- Experience with event-based simulation tools for wireless communication systems such as NS-3 or OMNET++ is a plus
- Knowledge of WiFi IEEE Standards is also a plus
- Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering or a similar
