**What is the purpose of this role?**
To manage and lead at optimum cost all signalling, electrical and civil directly employed resources and sub-contract to meet the business needs and objectives
**What will this role involve?**
Accountable for the safety of team in line with the safety responsibility statement Review and ownership of costs for the teams reporting to the post and to meet business targets Prioritise and plan the allocation and delivery of installation resources in liaison with Planning team To line manage direct reports To define and ensure training for installation resources to achieve requisite standards of installation and meet business needs To promote and recruit (in association with Service Director, Engineering & Resources and HR) and ensure full resource capability in line with workload forecast To liaise with training department to ensure training requirements are met To allocate the use of sub-contractors and employees from other departments as required If allocated to a scheme, ensure that staff allocated continue to meet the standards and work practices as directed by the project teams Ensure depot stores are in good order and consumables ordered, stored, distributed and used to maximise efficiency Ensure that reports, work plans, briefs and feedback are reviewed and distributed as necessary (in particular the safety information, daily work sheets, timesheets etc) Brief and implement new systems and processes Carry out investigations / disciplinaries / safety checks and general line management duties Ensure that a planned programme of technical and safety workplace assessments for all employees are carried out, to satisfy Railway safety critical work legislation Lead team, technical briefs and safety meetings Supports and delivers strategies for continuous improvement
**What are we looking for?**
IRSE Assessor / verifier Experience of managing direct and indirect resources PTS / IWA Outstanding leadership skills with ability to build and retain effective teams Highly organised, able to handle complexity Good stakeholder management A clear understanding of the importance of robust processes and systems, with a commitment to quality, safety and the environment Understanding of the Railway Operating Environment Understanding of planning and resource management systems
