Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Production, the Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the Urea/Shipping department is operated in a safe, environmentally compliant, and is cost-effective. This will include maximizing production and minimizing downtime while maintaining full EHS compliance. This position directs, develops, and manages the day-to-day urea and shipping activities to ensure the organizations objectives are met.

I. Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Production, the Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the Urea/Shipping department is operated in a safe, environmentally compliant, and is cost-effective. This will include maximizing production and minimizing downtime while maintaining full EHS compliance. This position directs, develops, and manages the day-to-day urea and shipping activities to ensure the organizations objectives are met.

II. Major Responsibilities
:
Environment, Health and Safety:

- To be an active part of the Supervisory/Management of plant operation that identifies and controls issues that have an impact on employee health and safety performance and demonstrate support for the EHS Policy and its programs. The Superintendent is the key leader in EHS excellence within the Urea plant operating area.

Human Resources:

- Participate in maintaining an effective and on-going training and development program to achieve the competence level required to meet present and future needs of employees.
- Coach and mentor production and day supervisors to ensure maximum performance and focus on business strategy.
- Promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace.

Direct and Control:

- Ensure adherence to established safety, operational and organizational regulations and procedures.
- Diligently manage plant production to ensure efficient production, product quality, plant efficiency on-stream targets are maximized - within the confines of full EHS compliance.
- Develop and implement operational plans to effectively execute activities such as maintenance turnarounds.
- Drive continuous focus on controllable manufacturing costs without compromising EHS compliance.

Planning and Organizing:

- Anticipate the needs of the process and personnel supervised and make provision for them thereby maximizing productivity and efficiency of the plant and the shift organization.
- Maintain effective programs in safety, cost control and reporting, as well as manpower training, development and utilization.
- Directs and/or recommends necessary changes to plant processes, equipment, procedures, or staffing to meet departmental objectives.

Co-ordination & Co-operation:

- Develops and maintains effective relationships with other departments to obtain the required assistance in meeting departmental objectives.

Reporting and Communication:

- Ensure strong communication between departments so departmental goals are met, through reporting regular updates.

Problem Solving:

- Troubleshoot process and mechanical problems.
- Recommend change/improvements where needed within department.

Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all Regulatory compliance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Industrial Rail
- Maintain and contribute to Ammonia Producers Mutual Aid agreement.
- Support and contribute to CF Industries commitment to Fertilizer Canada.
- Ensure that Operations adhere to Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws and Regulations

Product Movement (Traffic)
- Ensure continual product movement of Urea / Ammonia, via rail cars and trucks., utilizing CF systems.
