**Regional Legal Counsel Job description**

**Labour Lawyer**

**Purpose of Role**

The purpose of this role is to manage all labour legal matters for the region, including the schools, and give guidance of any inquiries.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensuring all contracts and agreements are aligned with relevant country’s labour laws and Convenio.
- Responsibility for legal aspects of dismissal processes: including all methods of communication, drafting appropriate documentation, negotiation, attendance at arbitration and employment tribunals as necessary.
- Creation and maintenance of policies and procedures in respect of legal labour matters for use byemployees reflecting local laws and Convenio.
- Maintenance of all documentation which may include legal labour information (legislative or regulatory).
- Provide support in any labour law matters.
- Responsibility and provision of ongoing support regarding labour inspections in schools and regional office.
- Keep HR colleagues and Heads of School updated on amendments of current laws, possible enactment of new laws and providing training as and when required.
- Provide ongoing training to employees within schools or the regional office in respect of relevant labour law matters.
- Act as the legal representative of the region for labour matters.
- Responsibility for the implementation and compliance with Plan de Igualdad, Data Protection, and any other laws or projects which may fall under the ‘labour law’ umbrella.
- Knowledge of payroll concepts, social security other matters related to employees’ and company’s payment beneficial.
- Work with the finance department in respect of matters that may impact it.

**Regional Team Guidance**
- Advising HR colleagues and Heads of School in legal labour aspects, including:Contracts and

Dismissals and strategy
Annual leave and absences
Any changes related to employment positions, working time, etc.
- Support and follow-up regarding requirements of unions in schools
- Support and follow-up in all visa processes for international staff in schools

**Skills, Qualifications and Experience**
- Minimum 5 years post qualification experience
- Solid knowledge of Spanish labour laws and Convenios
- Experience of managing external legal counsel
- Examples of business partnering and understanding of operational matters for the region
- Demonstratable knowledge of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Understanding of data protection laws and ability to manage compliance programmes

**Salary**: 40,000.00€ - 42,000.00€ per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

- 28108 Alcobendas, Madrid: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- labour / employment law: 5 years (required)
