ICFO is a research center located in the Mediterranean Technology Park in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and currently hosts 400+ people, including researchers, PhD students and staff personnel. Today, in its area of specialization and category, the institute is consistently ranked among the highest-quality research institutions worldwide.

The ICFO Communications Unit has ambitious goals to communicate the frontier research activities and the societal impact of this research to the local and international communities. The need for a strong and strategically minded communications unit is of growing importance in order to meet the these goals. In addition, ICFO has been highly successful at obtaining competitive funding to carry out ambitious collaborative research projects. ICFO’s communications unit coordinates the communication and dissemination aspects of a number of these projects.

The Communities Coordinator will engage with stakeholders currently at ICFO, Alumni and followers on institutional social media channels in order to promote a sense of belonging with the institute. All actions will reflect ICFO’s missions, will nurture a clear and consistent brand, and will strive to foment a sense of community through shared interests.
- ALUMNI: They will develop and execute a detailed action plan for the Alumni program including services, assessment mechanisms, events, alumni website/platform maintenance, and mechanisms for engagement and communication. They will cultivate long term relationships with alumni ensuring their engagement, developing and maintaining the Alumni database and platform and extracting information from this data to allow the institute to analyse the impact of its programs.
- SOCIAL MEDIA: They will cultivate a strong social media presence, engaging with users, implementing campaigns to increase followers and engagement, and creating content that accurately reflects the culture and activities of the institute.
- INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS: They will engage with members of the internal community through all possible channels to promote institutional interests and events.

**REQUIREMENTS**

The appointee must have:

- University Degree in a related field
- International experience, either through university studies or professional experience (preferentially both)
- Possess knowledge of scientific institutions.
- Have a minimum of two years’ experience in a role involving community management, marketing, internal communications in an institution with an international constituency.
- Experience coordinating Social Media platforms (including Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
- Demonstrable experience with network building preferably in a research institute setting
- Full written and verbal fluency of English as well as native level Spanish and Catalan (MINIMUM C1 Cambridge level)
- Have organizational, planning and analytical skills.
- Have an eye for detail, responsibility, and an eager-to-learn attitude.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills and an outgoing personality.
- Be willing to travel occasionally and adapt to flexible work schedule when needed.
- Be able to meet deadlines and follow up on assignments.
