**Job Description**:
**Role Purpose**
We are looking for a Principal Research Analyst to join our **Global Aromatics team**. Wood Mackenzie Chemicals provides integrated commercial and strategic subscription research and consultancy services for the chemicals, fibres, films, and plastics sectors. We provide insight combined with proprietary data, helping companies identify trends and take advantage of opportunities. Together, we inspire and innovate the markets we serve. The Chemicals business is expanding rapidly and is a key vector of growth for Wood Mackenzie.
You will be a key member of the Oils & Chemicals Research business, leading our coverage of the Paraxylene (PX), Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and related markets in Europe and the Middle East. You will focus on analysing market fundamentals: supply, demand, price (including price discovery) and profitability trends. You will produce and contribute to high-quality analyses in the form of thought-provoking reports, presentations and articles, and will also contribute to bespoke consulting projects. You will also participate and speak at major industry events and conferences.
Through your research and insight, you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of the PX and PTA industry. You will identify and diagnose the key themes impacting our customers, understand the market dynamics that separate winners from losers, advise senior executives and lead the development of our sustainability-focused offerings.
As an experienced team member, you will coach, develop (and possibly line manage) colleagues across the world. Experience in coaching / line-managing analysts, both face-to-face and virtually, and a track record of driving change within their team or function will be an advantage.
**Main Responsibilities**
- Lead our analysis of PX and PTA markets in EMEA.
- Work closely with colleagues in other Wood Mackenzie research teams to build a robust, integrated view of the evolution of commodities markets in the short
- and long-term.
- Proactively contribute to methodology and modelling enhancements.
- Respond to internal and external enquiries regarding PX/PTA markets in a timely and professional manner.
- Engage clients and prospects in meetings and via web calls and where appropriate, engage with the press to build Wood Mackenzie’s reputation.
- Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to service clients and grow the client base.
- Work with the product managers of the evolving oils & chemicals research offerings suite to deliver high-quality content, clearly communicating our analysis to clients. Contribute to product development plans, providing ideas and support for enhancements and improvements.
- Provide expert input on PX/PTA markets to consulting projects in conjunction with the consulting team.
- Coaching (and possibly line managing) colleagues across the world.

You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, proven in your academic and work experience. You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data and articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. You have a flair for writing and communication and confidence in presenting to an audience.
