Chauffeur

Operates and maintains serviceability of Defense Attaché Office (DAO) motor vehicles for transport of the Senior Defense Official/Defense Attaché (SDO/DATT), DAO Attaches, DAO support staff, and DAO-sponsored personnel and visitors to various locations within Spain. Responsible for the general maintenance and cleanliness of 4 vehicles, maintaining service charts, and completing driving and fuel logs in accordance with directives. Provides translator and cultural immersion assistance for DAO personnel

**EXPERIENCE**: A minimum of three years of documented professional experience as a Chauffeur.

**EDUCATION**: Completion of Secondary School.JOB KNOWLEDGE: A comprehensive knowledge of Madrid local and federal driving regulations; strong working knowledge of defensive driving and vehicle security procedures; knowledge of administrative procedures, computer skills, and GPS navigation devices. Must have a strong understanding of local routes (avoiding possible choke points) to airport terminal, local military bases, and other government buildings in the Madrid area. Must be willing and able to learn routes and security procedures for military bases and government compounds throughout Spain. Must have a thorough understanding of the organizational structure and operating procedures of the Spanish Government, particularly of the Ministry of Defense (MoD), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and Spanish military organizations.

**LANGUAGE**: Limited level of English speaking/reading/writing. Fluent level of Spanish speaking/reading/writing. This may be tested.

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**: Must be able to perform operator-level preventive maintenance, checks and services. Must be flexible, dependable, disciplined and able to endure highly stressful city-driving conditions. Must be sensitive to passenger needs and comfort whenever possible. Must be able to provide advice on cultural matters. Must be able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicle. Must possess basic computer skills and be able to use Microsoft Office. Must be able to work quickly and calmly under pressure, must be able to organize and prioritize work assignment, provides follow-up, and notify supervisor immediately of potential problems.
