This Gas Operator role will have a focus on the Italian market, so experience working in gas operations in Italy is essential.
**Summary**
Our client is a fully global energy merchant that encompasses upstream investments, Natural Gas imports, Global LNG Trading, Shipping and optimization, as well as energy hedging and risk management solutions. Headquartered in Singapore, they are active globally with a European hub located in Madrid. The company is growing at a fast pace, and you will be joining us at a time of both product and geographic expansion.
This is a pipeline gas and LNG in-tank operator to be part of the European Trading team. The Jobholder will have the responsibility of operating the company’s portfolio of physical gas contracts in the UK and Continental Europe, being an interface between the Trading Desks, Back Office, Finance and Legal departments. The job comprises nomination and scheduling of the company's physical portfolio, plus monitor operational risks to minimize physical exposure and imbalance charges.
You will be expected to be self-motivated, to work independently and develop your own ideas and approaches. In return you will have exposure to a diverse and exciting environment, work with top level industry experts, and be well placed on our journey as the group grows and evolves.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Being part of the Operations team who is responsible for:
- Gas balancing in EU countries and UK where the company is operating currently or in the near future (incl. Spain, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy).
- LNG/Gas and tolling optimization in all terms.
- Short-term trading operations in EU hubs.
- Calculate and manage the physical gas and LNG positions in EU and UK. This includes the development of the necessary tools to complement the corporative IT systems.
- Managing the relationships with wholesale counterparties, LNG terminals, gas system operator and transport companies.
- Support the Operations department in the management of internal IT business systems’ performance and improvement (ETRM, Gas Operations System).
**Job Requirements**
- Knowledge of the gas logistics, operations, markets as well as regulation related to it in EU (France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain) and UK.
- Experience in the previous item of around 3-5 years.
- Fluent in English. Other languages valuable.
- Strong communication skills, results driven and capacity to work well within multidisciplinary international teams across multiple regions.
- Experience in programming oriented to data analysis and machine learning.
- Strong analytical and agile mindset, with a background in engineering, mathematics or equivalent.
