The American Express Global Privacy Office (GPO) are trusted advisors on the American Express Data Protection & Privacy Principles. We work to raise privacy awareness, drive compliance with both internal privacy policies and regulatory expectations across the organization and establish privacy as a strategic differentiator for the American Express brand. As a second line of defence function, Global Privacy oversee, provide expertise in, and challenge the identification, management, and mitigation of privacy risks across the company in line with the privacy framework and the company’s vision to provide the world’s best customer experience every day.

This position, based in Madrid, reports to the Senior Manager Digital Privacy.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provision of privacy risk oversight management, strategic guidance and consultation to American Express businesses, with a global focus.
- Supporting monitoring and reporting of privacy key risk indicators and other data.
- Supporting the development, coordination, and implementation of American Express’ global privacy program
- Ensuring adherence to the enterprise privacy risk appetite globally through effective privacy oversight and second line of defense challenge.
- Partnering with Compliance and other collaborators in supervising privacy legal/regulatory change management.
- Encouraging a culture of privacy at American Express by advocating for Privacy-by-Design, integration of the American Express Data Protection & Privacy Principles, accountability and sharing of standard methodologies.

***Minimum Qualifications**:

- Two years of experience in Privacy, with special focus on Data Protection Impact Assessments
- The remit of this role is global, therefore proficiency in English is required.
- Highly organized and strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to form relationships, mobilize cross functional and regional teams and work independently.

**Preferred Additional**:

- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Protection and Privacy.
- Data Protection and Privacy Professional Certification (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPP/US) or DPO-AEPD Scheme.
