- Research Engineer position in Networks Data Science group

Networks Data Science Group

The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the IT services of the institute and the researchers using the aforementioned resources. The person will be also directly involved in research activities concerning data-driven and experimental evaluations of the solutions developed by the group.

The position requires competences in:

- Linux system administration, including set up and maintenance of Ubuntu
- and Debian-like systems, through bash shell scripting, users account management, resources quotas, firewall configuration, etc.
- Network administration, including switch and router configuration, management of VLANs, and knowledge of SSH, DHCP, FTP/SFTP, DNS, NFS, TCP, HTTP/HTTPS.

Other desirable competences include:

- Big data cluster administration, including Docker, Apache Spark and Hadoop, JupyterHub, Python scripting
- Basic competences in web development with HTML, CSS
- Hands-on experience with programmable network environments, hardware and/or languages such as bmv2, PISA-compliant ASICs, SmartNICs, FPGAs or P4.
