**ABOUT THE ENGINEERING MANAGER ROLE AND THE GROWTH TEAM**:
The Knot Worldwide is seeking a talented and driven Engineering Manager to join and lead our Growth Team.

The Knot is the nation’s leading wedding marketplace, providing our couples with a completely personalized experience that guides them through the entire wedding planning journey. Millions of couples choose to use our tools to plan their wedding and their first introduction to our brand are our many public-facing web pages. These range from our Homepage to detailed product pages explaining the value of our wedding planning tools including Wedding Websites, Checklists, Budgeter, and Guest List Manager. These public pages are critically important to our overall business in helping signup couples and set them up to successfully plan their wedding with us.

As a Manager of Engineering, you’ll work to maintain, measure, and evolve all of these pages to ensure that we’re meeting our business goals for signing up new couples. You’ll also evaluate and evolve the underlying engineering systems that support these pages and work with stakeholders to ensure our technology infrastructure continues to meet their needs. You’ll work with design, data, product, copyrighting, marketing, and other business stakeholders on the highest-traffic web pages we have.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Manage a team of 5 engineers from both a career and project perspective. Ensure team members are happy, productive, and delivering what’s needed.
- Coordinate closely with our build and marketing teams to ensure they have what they need to sign up new couples and flag potential problems and solutions early.
- Establish a strong sense of responsibility in the engineering team who is invested in and owns the overall quality of the team's products.
- Work with SEO and Data teams to ensure web pages are converting signups efficiently and pages are performant and delivering a great experience to all visitors.
- Produce well-tested, maintainable code that follows design guidelines and best practices.
- Participate in the Agile development process to help architect, build, and ship new features.
- Partner with product, design, and marketing teams to ensure engineering strategy meets organizational goals.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to other engineers on the team while reviewing code and coordinating feature launches.
- Participate in the technical organization outside of our squad in making company-wide architecture, data, and code pattern decisions.
- Work closely with remote and international teams

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Ability to manage engineers working across different technical stacks and backends and delegate decisions and system expertise where necessary.
- Experience managing teams working on varied tech stacks which can include, Ruby on Rails, React, Webpack, Next JS, NodeJS, PHP/Symfony
- Strong understanding of frontend web development patterns and practices across devices and close iteration with design teams.
- Experience working with customized CDNs such as Akamai and designing web caching strategies.
- Ability to help transition systems to new platforms as necessary and identify ahead of time when this will be required and planning system migrations.
- Experience working on top-of-funnel web pages to convert users to signup and A/B testing new features to measure results.
- Familiarity with SEO practices and web page optimization for performance
- Experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including individual and overall team performance.
- Comfortable with agile principles and a strong believer in the importance of agile when producing high-quality software.
- Communicate well, love to share knowledge, and are also always willing to learn from others. Good at explaining problems to technical and non-technical folks alike. Good at setting and resetting expectations with product owners and stakeholders.
