Two PhD positions will be available at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) to work on metal anode based batteries with ICMAB researcher Alexandre Ponrouch.

The positions offered are in the framework of the recently funded ERC Consolidator project MULTIMETALBAT: Multi-metal anode: Towards safe and energy dense batteries.

The project main objective is to bring a new paradigm for metal anode by developing electrolytes containing a mixture of multiple cations (Li+, Na+, K+, Ca2+ or Mg2+) which will modify the plating and stripping mechanism when compared with conventional single metal anode. The outcome is expected to the development of safer batteries with higher energy density compared with state of the art Li-ion cells.
