A position of **Design Engineer **has just opened within Airbus Defence & Space in Barajas (Madrid). You will join to Mechanical Design Office (MDO).

The Mechanical Design office is a transversal group inside Mechanical Aerospace Design. In particular the MDO is transnational team integrating Germany and Spain in only one team for supporting technical and management activities in Engineering.

If you are looking a transnational and multidisciplinary team to develop yourself, this is an great opportunity. MDO is composed by more than 50 people working together (45 people Germany + 20 People Spain) in several disciplines.

As part of Germany & Spain Space Mechanical Design Office (MDO), she/he is responsible for management of the assigned projects in a multidisciplinary environment. This includes generating of mechanical, thermal and electrical design solutions for several types of products: Launchers, payload adaptors, mechanism, antennas and satellites and providing you overview of any Space products.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Project Engineering Tasks Leadership & Management**
- Planning and organization of the design and work load at project level to ensure total compliance with technical requirements, project schedule and cost targets.
- Coordination with other engineering groups to establish the product environment.
- Technical support to subcontractors management.
- Interface with program management and customers.

**Design Engineering**
- Responsibility for the generation, control, correctness, accuracy and relevance of all drawings, models, Digital Mock Up (DMU), bills of materials and assembly tree.
- Engineering Change Notes as related to the configured items for allocated project(s) to cost and schedule.
- Ensuring all outputs from the Design Office (DO) are correct to the project requirements as stated by the core team (generally the Responsible Engineer).
- All project Design Office outputs must be checked, signed and stamped by the design engineer to the checklists and CATIA procedures.
- Authorizing design signatory for manufacturing drawings, BoM's and assembly drawings
- Responsibility for the estimation and planning of DO related activities.
- Providing support to other general DO activities, e.g. Process improvements, bids etc.
- On request, support to Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration & Tests (MAIT) in case of anomaly or difficulty.

**Interface Definition and Control Activities**
- Definition and documentation of interface requirements and design solutions to ensure compatibility of all system interface elements (Tolerance analysis).
- Coordination with the project management and discipline engineers to support interface analyses, trade studies, and change control to increase confidence that the hardware end items will function as an integrated system.

**Test Engineering Activities**
- Generation of 3D models and documents for different configurations (qualification ,structural ,thermal models)

**Manufacturing Activities**
- To work with manufacturing to perform concurrent engineering and collaborate to solve manufacturing and assembly related problems
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes: advantages and limitations
- Participation in meetings to resolve manufacturing discrepancies (non-conformances)

**SKILLS**
- Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline with working background the Aerospace industry.
- Practical experience (more than 5 years) in the mechanical design of space systems. Desired also knowledge on thermal and electrical design.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience of CATIA V5 (desired 3dx).
- Strong Engineering & technical background including working knowledge of FTA (Functional Tolerancing & Annotations ).
- Practical understanding of Design solution for spacecrafts and launchers. Drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of work.
- Able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
- Proactive attitude towards knowledge sharing.
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Self-motivated and directed with keeping attention to details.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written & oral communication skills (English is mandatory, and Spanish is an asset).
