We are looking for an Industrial Robotics R&D Engineer for the development of innovative robotic solutions for aerospace. Your contributions will focus on inventing, designing, building, testing & fine tuning innovative robotic solutions to be installed on Airbus shop floors to manufacture aerospace parts. Your work will help improve and expand Airbus robotic systems portfolio. You will be a fundamental part of Airbus Robotics and Automation function, but also work and collaborate with a transversal team across functions to design and develop prototypes & demonstrators as well as to industrialize products.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include
- Design electronic analog and digital circuits using semiconductors, ICs such as MPUs and MCUs.
- Develop tests, perform failure analysis, and solution validation for product development.
- Evaluate sizing of robotic actuators to real payload and validate control logics with PLCs in SiL/HiL.
- Designing, building and testing prototypes.
- Generating manufacturing drawings, BOMs and other documentation.
- Contribute to the functional analysis and the collaborative definition of the requirement specification
- Design systems under safety and quality standards.
- Validate and ensure the advanced maintenance of the deployed systems.
- Build a strong technical expertise to steer development and integration of robotic technologies in aerospace.

Main activities

You will be in charge of doing the following activities:

- Develop and analyze concept solutions to address real world challenges.
- Design & integrate prototypes & demonstrators of innovative robotic solutions.
- Ensure that Safety concerns are properly solved or eased by design.
- Validate system assumptions and functionality under Airbus product integrity standards.
- Build & share a deep technical understanding of robotic solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers in good design practice.

Experience and Skills

Requirements:

- Master Science and/or PhD in Controls, Electronics, Robotics or related field or equivalent a hands-on Electronics Engineer or Robotics Engineer experience, preferably in the industry.
- Able to read & write wiring diagrams of electrical installations.
- Hands-on experience in robotics / actuated systems control.
- Experience with embedded control systems, motor control, motor sizing and power electronics.
- Able to use EDA/ECAD-based system level and PCB design (placement, routing, power optimization), schematic-driven layout, communications systems, component selection and electrical installations (e.g. wiring of control cabinets).
- Successful experience of integration of an industrial robotic solution used in production.
- Understanding of PLC architecture (programming stack and control implementation), modulation schemes (e.g. PWM), assembly language (any) and common communication standards and protocols.
- Demonstrated influence in selection of sensors and actuators.
- Good at practical things, such as making prototyping parts, assembling components, etc.- Strong communication skills, a good team player, but also capable of solving problems independently.
- A can-do attitude to balance quality and speed: from quick proof-of-concept work, to high quality design.
