To enable a life without limitations, we through our core business brands Phonak, Unitron, Hansaton, Advanced Bionics and AudioNova develop, manufacture and distribute solutions that push the limits of technology and redefine the future of our industry.Intellectual Property Counsel What you'll do: Performing and coordinating various activities related to intellectual property rights, in particular patent and design rights (PDRs).Manage the PDR Clearance process to verify the Freedom-To-Operate of Company products and services in close collaboration with product managers, project leaders, and technical patent experts.Provide legal advice to decision makers and manage patent challenging processes, such as opposition or IPR proceedings, as well as licensing negotiations.Render opinions or recommend obtaining outside counsel opinions, draft and/or review patent assignments, patent licenses, and other agreements, or intellectual property portions thereof.Conduct and request clearance searches, review and rate the relevance of patent publications, and support patent litigation proceedings.Manage outside counsel on various projects as appropriate.Administrate and manage the PDR Screening process in close collaboration with product managers, project leaders, and technical patent experts.Prepare and update patent database searches to classify patent publications and assign technical patent experts to the corresponding classifications.Support and counsel inventors during the preparation of invention reports.Provide education and training for employees, technical patent experts, and users of the PDR Clearance, PDR Creation, and PDR Screening processes.Coordinate, moderate, and document Invention Review Board Meetings.Ensure that appropriate and effective operational procedures are in place for handling PDR matters, particularly for PDR Screening, PDR Clearance, and PDR Creation.Handle trade secrets and nondisclosure agreements, along with other inside or outside counsel.Monitor and analyze PDR activities of competitors.Occasionally participate in professional training.What you bring to the team: University degree in a technical discipline, electro-engineering, or physics.Qualification as patent attorney and licensed to practice law (in California).Several years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution, and experience in international patent practice.Ability to work independently, proactively, and on own initiative.Excellent communication skills, friendly and direct in communications, diplomatic in negotiations.Service-oriented, cooperative, and transparent.Ability to instruct in-house paralegals, in-house patent engineers, technical patent experts, as well as outside attorneys
