NoOffer Description During the last decades, design researchers and practitioners have increasingly focused on the social dimension and impact of design initiatives, from the development of practical solutions with Social Design to the orchestration of systemic changes of Design for Social Innovation. Designers and researchers have also expanded their focus 1) in terms of scale, be it geographical, moving from artifacts to the territories around it or socially, moving from the individual user to Community-Centered Design and design by communities; 2) use of and design of digital tools in creating a digital design practice and research; 3) adoption of a network perspective. This growing focus on the sytemic nature of the social dimension of design initiatives increasingly requires attention to positionality (the acknowledgement that people have multiple overlapping identities in dynamic relation to the others), intersectionality (the acknowledgement that people's multi-layered identities and positionalities result in unique combinations of discrimination and privilege), inequality (the acknowledgement that the difference in social status and wealth between people or groups affect their position, privilege, discrimantion, opportunity and action).Within this recent evolution, Elisava , Barcelona School of Design and Engineering (UVic-UCC) invites applications for a PhD Student position supervised by Prof.Massimo Menichinelli in Design for Social Innovation, Intersectionality, Positionality and Inequality with a systemic approach and digital tools.The successful candidate will a) study the how design can be applied in improving and communicating intersectionality, positionality and inequality among actors in Design for Social Innovation initiatives in a doctoral program at UVic-UCC; b) work on European, National and Regional research and innovation projects; c) teach in BA or MA courses (60 hours per year).Where to apply E-mail ****** Research Field Architecture » Design Education Level Master Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsFluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Spanish and Catalan is appreciated.Knowledge of design (strsategic design, service design, interaction design, graphic design), data analysis and visualization, UX.A strong interest in social innovation, intersectionality, inequality, social impact, sustainability.Be at least 18 years of age and not have reached retirement age.Hold the qualifications that are determined.
