This role contributes to theMaria de Maeztu Unit of Excellencescientific plan, specifically Research Line 5 on integrated modelling of socio-environmental systems.The ARIES platform ( aries.Integratedmodelling.Org ) has developed AI-driven infrastructure for data and model integration through machine reasoning and semantics, built on open-sourcek.LABsoftware ( / ).Role & ResponsibilitiesExpand and refine the ARIES ontology set, integrating knowledge across ecology, biodiversity, agriculture, social systems, and economics.Develop semantic resources supporting automated, adaptive, and flexible model-building via machine reasoning.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to:Integrate authoritative ontologies and vocabularies.Create new ontologies and semantic assets where needed.Develop tools for semantic annotation for non-experts.Foster a community around semantic modeling within and beyond ARIES.This position is ideal for candidates passionate about applying semantic technologies and AI reasoning to sustainability, environmental management, and policy challenges.Key RequirementsPhD in computer science, environmental informatics, knowledge representation, or related fields.Experience in ontology development, semantic web standards (OWL, RDF, SKOS), and knowledge representation.Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and communicating complex semantic ideas to non-technical audiences.Knowledge of ecological, economic, or social science data is a plus.Additional DetailsSeniority level: InternshipEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Research, Analyst, and ITIndustry: Research Services#J-18808-Ljbffr
