Sofitel Barcelona Skipper is looking for Head Bartender to join the team.

Position: Head Bartender

Contract type: Indefinite

Description:

Reporting to the Maitre del Tendiez, you will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, planning, and participating in all activities related to the Bar to ensure smooth operations.

MISSION:

Establish a system with the Maitre to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the areas and promote excellent service for our guests.
Be fully familiar with the Bar TENDIEZ license laws and ensure all team members are also knowledgeable. Records must be available at all times.
Attend required meetings on food and beverage training, health and safety, budgets, and promotions. Convey any relevant information to your team and ensure they are fully aware of the issues discussed.
Create and maintain service standards in line with the company's strategy and policy, i.e., the Standard Operating Manual (SOP), with the Maitre.
Support the Maitre and F&B Manager in creating and updating the Bar menu. This should be updated quarterly.
Responsible for the Bar's decoration, facilities, and accessories and report any damage to the maintenance manager (attention to detail is essential).
Support the Maitre in developing, implementing, and maintaining the team review and development program to identify strengths and weaknesses in your staff and develop them to the fullest.
Plan for succession to be available at all times.
Cooperate and coordinate with the F&B Manager, Executive Chef, and Maîtres during service hours to provide a high level of service for the restaurant and Bar Tendiez. Have a team spirit with the Bar team.
Ensure efficient service with Bar TENDIEZ, ensuring a consistently high reputation within Barcelona.
Responsible for monitoring breakages, equipment damage, unnecessary waste of drinks or department resources, and taking necessary disciplinary actions when required, at all times agreed with the Maitre and F&B Manager.
Ensure all customer checks are accurately accounted for at the end of each service period in the system, along with cash and related tasks. You are fully responsible for inventory, with stock checks and price updates.
Be precise in maximizing department sales through staff motivation, efficient resource utilization, and strong sales techniques.
Support and maintain a high level of knowledge and skills with waiters and floor staff by applying specific bar training. Organize training with your team and wine suppliers.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3 years' previous experience in a similar position, experience in hotels of a similar category or gastronomic restaurants is valued.
Preferred Certificate or diploma in F&B professional training.
Proficiency in Spanish and English (advanced level), with a third language, preferably French (valued).
Experience in staff supervision and ability to lead and motivate a team.
Excellent customer service skills and able to lead by example.
Organized person, time management skills, attention to detail, and tolerance for high work rates at certain times.
Ability to maintain high service standards while working under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities.
Availability to work on rotating schedules as required.
Sales-oriented and goal-oriented.
Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
Ability to focus on customer needs, always remaining calm and being courteous and respectful.
