Simultaneously, you will coordinate efforts with the Art Manager to ensure the highest quality and deliver astonishing special effects in each project. Responsibilities Design and create visually pleasing special effects for a variety of projects in Secret6. Ability to understand and execute complex documentation and search for more detailed and specific graphic references for the levels. Assist in the creation of exceptional VFX assets, following the artistic and technical guidelines, graphic style, theme and other visual requirements. Work closely with the Art Manager to ensure the visual target is always exceeded and stylistically consistent. Have independence when it comes to following guidelines, estimating and completing your own tasks. Ensure that assets and artwork are optimised in regard to performance and best practices for the desired target platforms while retaining artistic integrity. Provide support on the VFX asset production.
Maintain, research and share knowledge of best art techniques and practices. Experience in Motion graphics and visual effects design. Experience in UV handling for custom 3D meshes. Collaborate with the Technical artists, Designers and other team members in order to maximise the project's visual impact using particle systems and other elements. Create animated content in Unreal Engine and adjust. Work collaboratively with the artists and designers to create, implement and polish a range of environment, weapons, vehicles and character effects. Maintain a deep understanding of the direction and mechanics of the game, so the VFX feels grounded and cohesive within the world. Proficient in delivering assets that meet real-time engine constraints and programming and animation requirements. Additional duties include assisting with designs and how it relates to your effects, syncing with technical art for optimization. Create original and custom 3D models, 2D assets. Experience creating special effects (such as liquid, fire, destruction, explosions, clouds, particles). Advise management in a timely manner of any issues which may impact project schedules. Be willing to perform any other duties, functions, and responsibilities required by the project or the studio, assigned to you by the Art Manager, Principal Art Manager, Head of Art and Production team, faithfully, diligently, efficiently and to the best of your abilities. Provide art materials made within the studio for the company's, website, portfolio and demo reel for marketing needs. Collaborate and participate in any necessary meetings, team or activities related to the studio and the project assigned. Assist with portfolio updates and marketing materials. Exhibit initiative, be proactive, ask questions, and clearly report improvements and possible issues to the Art Manager. Requirements At least 2-4 years of professional experience as a VFX Artist. Credited in at least one published AAA game title for creating effects. Proficient in video game optimisation techniques. In-depth colour theory, shape and composition understanding, general modelling skills, and texturing packages.
Thorough understanding of the process of baking and authoring textures for physical based rendering (PBR). Strong technical understanding of Unreal Engine 5, up-to-date industry workflows, and awareness of performance and optimisation. Able to autonomously follow guidelines and execute tasks within a given timeframe. Able to accurately and efficiently perform task breakdowns and estimations for scheduling when required. Experience in 3D modelling and animation using software such as 3Ds Max, Maya, or Blender. Proficiency in creating particle systems and other effects using 3D software (e.g., 3Ds Max, Maya, Blender) and game engines such as Unreal Engine 5 or Unity. Strong experience with the Unreal Engine 5 Niagara particle pipeline. Strong experience working with Unreal Shaders. Experience working with Substance Designer. In-depth knowledge of real-time techniques used in video game development. Ability to creatively solve issues while maintaining performance standards. Proficiency in Photoshop. Understanding of post-production processes. Excellent lighting skills. Ability to render final art creatively. Strong eye for composition. Structured workflow habits, and ability to consistently meet deadlines. Persistence, drive, and self-motivation. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Team-oriented mindset.
