With systems that need to be highly resilient, extremely low latency and scalable to massive volume, you will work with other Database Administrators, Architects and Product Engineering teams to keep things optimal for today whilst also focusing on the future state as we move to a highly automated and service-led landscape.Part of our rapidly growing Tech team, you will have the opportunity to be part of our future and play a crucial role in taking KingMakers to the next levelWhat you will be doing: Working within a central DBA team whilst interfacing with an assigned dev squadTraditional MS SQL Server administration tasks such as backups, availability group maintenance, version upgrades, connectivity issues, infrastructure management etc…Pre-emptive T-SQL optimisation, identification and tuning of high consuming queries achieved through in-depth query performance monitoringPartitioning and database size managementT-SQL code review for an assigned dev squad as well as supporting developers with efficient database designDeveloping and maintaining archiving strategies, data extraction and data insertion pipelines using T-SQL and/or Azure Data FactoryCode and infrastructure automation using tools such as PowerShell, Terraform and Azure DevOpsMigrating to and creating managed database services such as Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed InstancesParticipating in an on-call support rosterWhat is essential for the role:Experience as a MS SQL Server database administrator.Expertise with performance Tuning and T-SQL Optimisation. Experience with busy databases handling large volumes of transactions per day.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders up to C-levelA natural problem solver with excellent organisation and prioritisation skillsExperience of decision making in a pressurised environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills University degree or equivalent from a knowledge & experience perspectiveNice to have Experience in data engineeringExperience in Microsoft Azure would be considered a strong assetExperience with any of the following considered an asset; Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, MongoDB, MySQL, Terraform, Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage (Nice to haveHow you do it – Expectations for fulfilling your role: As a general rule at KingMakers we want people to be:Customer Focus: We keep the customer at the center of everything we do
