ENC Digestive Diseases Compensation range: $23.10 - $29.57 Your rate of pay will be based on applicable experience. Shift: Days, Temporary Shift length: 8 Hours Days off: Fixed (Saturday & Sunday) Hours per pay period: 80 POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant I is an unlicensed individual with limited training who performs basic administrative, clerical (front office) tasks and routine medical (back office) tasks and procedures under direct supervision of a licensed physician or designated mid-level providers in a physician office practice. They assist the medical providers and may perform within the scope of practice of a medical assistant to include: placing patients in exam rooms, collecting and recording patient data including medications, height, weight and vital signs, pain rating, fall risk, preparing patients for clinician evaluation, applying and removing dressings, giving injections, and other similar procedures. May administer intramuscular, subcutaneous and inhaled medications depending on the specialty. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program or formal medical service training program of the United States Armed Forces OR Associates degree or higher in a clinical healthcare field (such as LVN, RN, Medical Technologist) and two years back office medical experience. Desired: Front medical office experience to include: reception; registration, scheduling, billing and medical record functions. LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Current CPR certification. SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and public. Must demonstrate basic medical / technical competence, a general knowledge of point of care laboratory equipment and capable of utilizing clerical and computer skills for a variety of medical office support functions. Must show sensitivity for the patient and their family and maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
