Hemodialysis Technician

JOB TITLE: Hemodialysis Technician JOB QUALIFICATIONS: With formal training as a hemodialysis technician.
With updated BLS training.
Must have knowledge in caring for patients with kidney problems.
FUNCTION/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Set up and prime hemodialysis bloodlines and dialyzer needed for patient's treatment.
Ensure proper labeling, reuse process, and maintenance of patient's dialyzers as indicated in the Dialyzer Handling Protocol.
Conduct and record TDS Meter reading daily before the start of treatment day and monitor HD machines every after treatment day.
Document pertinent data to "Hemodialysis Machine Daily Monitoring Record" form.
Conduct preventive maintenance quarterly every last Sunday of January, April, July, and October, annual preventive maintenance every last Sunday of January, and corrective maintenance of hemodialysis machines as required.
Conduct and record daily monitoring of RO system to "RO Daily Monitoring Sheet" form.
Conduct scheduled RO sanitation as indicated (Refer to Water Treatment protocol).
Facilitate water sample for periodic water analysis as scheduled (Refer to Water Treatment protocol).
Document and record maintenance of hemodialysis machines and RO system.
Submit daily inventory of RO and reuse supplies (e.g., HD Solutions, Bloodlines, Dialyzer, etc.).
Report to the Nurse Manager critical stock levels to facilitate the purchasing process.
Assist in weighing and transportation of patients before and after hemodialysis treatment.
Assist nurses as well as physicians as required, and may perform basic administrative duties such as answering the phone and data entry and filing.
Report to the Nurse Manager all necessary records, data, and problems needing immediate attention.
Clean hemodialysis machines and treatment chairs after the use of each patient and on a routine basis following Housekeeping Protocol.
Other responsibilities may include cleaning and sanitizing dialysis treatment areas based on schedule following Housekeeping Protocol.
