Job Purpose
The Inspector performs basic and complex inspection work depending on experience in petroleum, petrochemical, gas, grain, oils, and fats terminals and refineries. This includes inspection work on board barges and ships following industry standards and the procedures published by API, Fosfa, Gafta, and Saybolt.
General Responsibilities
Inspectors assist other inspectors from the department and Operations department in their responsibilities at the location. They are responsible for efficient work within the location to meet client needs accurately and on time. Inspectors may work at different locations and on offshore operations as requested by the company.
The functions to be developed by the Inspectors are mainly included within port activity and sometimes offshore on high seas. The development and fulfillment of the functions of the job, including the specific service of standby, constitute a function of the job and are carried out within the ordinary working day, as long as they are carried out as effective working time.
Inspectors are responsible for running operations at the lowest possible costs while meeting safety, quality of service, and maintenance of assets. Inspector I must ensure full cooperation with their department and Managers on all assignments. They must follow all company procedures as established by Saybolt and Core Laboratories, including but not limited to HSE Manual, Accounting Policies & Procedures, Saybolt Administration Instruction Letter, IT procedures, Ethics Policy, and Saybolt Compliance Code. Inspectors must keep themselves updated and aware of all updates and act accordingly.
Inspectors report directly to the Operations department.
Competencies
Jobs require autonomous execution, usually involving reasoning and initiative by the workers responsible for their execution, acting under supervision or without it, as well as basic use of the English language needed to perform the job.
Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks, including entering confined spaces.
Verify the accuracy of measurement and sampling equipment.
Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials as defined in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets.
Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms clearly and promptly; perform inventories; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments.
Perform other inspection department duties assigned by the Manager or Coordinator.
Exercise procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in Saybolt procedures manuals, Global Safety Manual, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company policies.
Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical, Fosfa, Gafta, and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other safety training required by applicable regulations.
Gain knowledge of basic and advanced laboratory procedures through cross-training in the laboratory.
Maintain all material and installations in clean and good condition at all times.
Perform sample disposal and manage the stocks of materials needed to perform the job.
Certificates, Licenses And Registrations
Inspectors must have a vehicle in good, safe operating condition that can be used on the job for both personal and sample transportation in all ambient weather conditions. Vehicles used for sample transportation must accommodate the secondary sample containers issued for sample transportation.
Inspectors are required to maintain the proper levels of automobile liability insurance and meet all state requirements on vehicles used for Saybolt assignments.
Inspectors must also maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Local travel and occasional out-of-town assignments are required.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 Kilograms, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 Kilograms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Education And/or Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent (general education degree).
1 year as an Inspector or related experience.
Good verbal and written knowledge of local language and English.
Proficient user of MS Office.
Job Knowledge
All kinds of possible samplings & measurements. Capable of performing any kind of inspection vessel and shore with supervision from a higher-level Inspector or Account Manager.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and quantities (linear, volumetric, or weight) and to read and interpolate applicable data and tables.
Social Skills
Good communication skills.
Able to work independently.
Team building skills.
