We work in small, self-managing, collaborative and agile teams to implement stuff quickly.As an Engineering Manager for the Travel Vertical at Groupon, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers to develop scalable solutions that enhance our travel offerings. Your focus will be on driving innovation, ensuring the seamless operation of our travel platform, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver top-notch customer experiences. You will be responsible for mentoring your team, optimizing performance, and ensuring alignment with Groupon's strategic objectives. This role demands a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for the travel industry.You'll spend time on the following:- Leading a team of software engineers to help us develop microservices at a scale that is required for Groupon.- Hiring, mentoring and coaching your direct reports to be the best they can be.- Working cross-functionally with other teams to understand and prioritize user asks, features and tooling.- Work with Commercial and Product stakeholders to ensure execution of Travel roadmap to meet business objectives.- Running ongoing delivery and daily operations of services.- Continuously improving the management and engineering processes for the team and services.We value Managers who have:- B.E or higher degree in Computer Science with 8+ years of experience.- 2+ years of experience in leading a team of engineers.- Experience building and growing a team of engineers.- Experience designing and implementing large, scalable, distributed systems.- Good interpersonal skills.- Ability to work with multiple languages Java, Javascript, Python, etc.- Backend experience with RESTful API and RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.)
