This individual will have experience in the installation and troubleshooting of applications, servers (Linux & Windows), network devices (Cisco), and telecommunications technologies including VOIP, SIP and TDM based technologies.
Proper knowledge of telecommunications is a must; Experience in a support role in the financial services industry is beneficial.
PBX experience is also beneficial.
Flexible work schedule is a requirement, must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
Job Responsibilities This role is primarily a support-based role whereby the Systems Engineer provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for server-based telecommunications applications, products and networks for our financial services clients.
While basic non-intrusive support will be required throughout normal business hours, more intrusive configuration and administration activities will also be required after business hours and on weekends.
This role is predominantly to provide remote support from our IPC office.Primary technologies the Systems Engineer will be supporting are: Dell / Intel serversLinux & Windows Operating SystemsVMWare virtualization solutionsSIP based telecommunication applicationsSession Border Controller productsCisco networking technologiesInterfacing to PBX via SIP or QSIG.
PBX's such as Avaya, Nortel, and Cisco Specific Applications that the System Engineer may be asked to support (candidates are not expected to have experience in all of these technologies – experience in some of these areas is beneficial) IPC's Unigy system for Trader Voice and IPC's Agility application serverNICE Voice Recording Products (primarily NTR-X and NTR)VERINT Voice Recording Products On call duties on weekends, holidays and evenings Experience and Skills Requirements Minimum requirement is a 2-year college degree; BS/BA from an accredited university preferred.
Or equivalent work experience (5+ years as an engineer in the IT industry)Experience with the multiple technologies listed in the Detailed Description section is a must.
Years of experience with these technologies and the Applications listed will dictate whether you will be considered for an Associate System Engineer role, a System Engineer role, or a Senior Systems Engineer role.Must have an excellent understanding and experience with supporting server-based applications (Windows or Linux operating systems).
Experience with Kubernetes and VMWARE ESXi a plus.Any IT Certifications in the following areas is beneficial: Operating Systems (Microsoft, Linux)Servers (Server+, etc)Networking (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc)Databases (My SQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL)SIP Certifications such as "The SIP School" Should have a strong understanding of VoIP and Cisco networks:Experience with Wireshark and Cisco packet capture tools, bandwidth testing tools, and SNMPStrong understanding of basic network topologiesTechnical writing / drawing skillsExcellent verbal communication skillsTelephony & PBX knowledge a plus (Avaya, Nortel, Cisco Call Manager, etc.
