To accelerate us on this journey, we are seeking a key position of Head of Communications.Role SummaryWe're looking for an individual who can create and execute an effective communications strategy at a historic club under new ownership that likes to do things differently. You will need to have excellent verbal and written communications skills, with experience in sports communications. You will lead and manage a young and vibrant communications team whilst ensuring effective collaboration across the business.Key ResponsibilitiesEffectively manage the Communications Department and manage relationships with local, national and international media partners, sponsors and official supporters groups.Provide strategic counsel, advice and training where relevant to the President, Board and media-facing staff.Ensure clear alignment across commercial, sporting and corporate strategies.To develop a clearly aligned internal and external communications plan.Report and liaise with the Chairman and Board level staff to create club communications such as press releases and club statements.To act as the Club's spokesperson for all media related enquiries.To act as a brand ambassador for the Club to ensure our identity and values are properly presented when communicating with fans and other audiences.Draft communications collateral and material, press releases, biographies, speeches, award submission, notes and any other relevant documentation as required, through a variety of fit for purpose external communication channels, including corporate media relations, social media channels, digital content, & events.Oversee the provision of commentary for club's followers during matches.Keep up to date with our audience's preferences and proactively suggest new campaigns.Build relationships with journalists, influencers and bloggers.Preparing and maintaining the club's crisis management plan.Lead and manage a small team.Work with the marketing team, to develop and oversee an engaging and evolving content plan that covers all the club's media channels including the official website and official social media channels.Work with the commercial and marketing teams to drive and develop campaigns across ticketing, sponsorship and retail to ensure that the Communications and Content Plans align with marketing and revenue generating objectives.Provide support and advice to relevant departments with regards the most suitable delivery mechanisms or solutions with regards corporate communication activities
