The successful candidate will leverage advanced CFD tools and techniques to model and optimize the engine's components, contributing to the design ofARCOS ,PANGEA Aerospace´s aerospike rocket engine.
This role is crucial in enhancing engine performance, improving thermal efficiency, and ensuring structural integrity.Key Responsibilities:Multiphase Flow Simulation:Simulate the behaviour of multiphase flows, particularly in fuel injection systems.Model liquid fuel atomization, droplet formation, and spray dynamics during injection to optimize combustion efficiency.Analyse the effects of fuel atomization on engine performance.Heat Transfer Analysis:Perform detailed thermal analysis of rocket engine components, such as combustion chambers, nozzles, and cooling systems.Model heat transfer mechanisms (conduction, convection, and radiation) to optimize the engine's components.Integrate CFD analysis with Multiphysics phenomena, including fluid-structure interaction and thermodynamic effects, to assess temperature and pressure impacts on material behaviour.Optimization and Design Iteration:Use CFD results to propose and refine design improvements, focusing on fuel injection systems, thermal performance, and thrust optimization.Collaborate closely with the mechanical design and manufacturing teams to ensure that CFD-driven design modifications are implemented effectively.Validate CFD models by comparing simulation results with data obtained from experimental tests to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the models.Reporting and Documentation:Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings to stakeholders.Qualifications and skills:Education:Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field with a focus on fluid dynamics.Experience:2+ years of experience in CFD modelling, preferably in the aerospace domain.Technical skills:Expertise in CFD tools (e.G., ANSYS Fluent, CONVERGE CFD, or similar software) to conduct high-fidelity simulations.Strong knowledge of two-phase flow physics, chemical kinetics, turbulence models, and thermodynamics.Experience with high-temperature gas dynamics and reactive flow analysis.Experience with optimization techniques and sensitivity analysis for engine design improvements.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about complex systems.Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and reporting.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving project requirements.Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish and French is a plus.Not hitting every requirement?
