.Make a difference in the world of Serverless architecture and services based on the Knative project.
Red Hat OpenShift Serverless Engineering team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join us.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and operation of Serverless and event driven applications running on OpenShift, leveraging Red Hat's portfolio of components.
You will work in the upstream Knative community and on our Serverless product.
You'll need to have the ability to think creatively, adapt to rapid change and have the willingness to learn new things.
Occasional travel may be required to present and evangelize Red Hat's involvement with Knative and other upstream projects, along with the occasional offsite meeting.
What will you do:Provide complex contributions to upstream projects like Knative, Kubernetes, CloudEvents, BuildPacks, and Red Hat OpenShift and help technically mentor other team membersWork in the upstream community to expand the Knative ecosystem (eg.
API design, specifications, controllers, testing)Contribute to the Red Hat Operators that manage KnativeContribute to the development of design patterns, tooling, and best practice guides for developing Knative componentsWork with other team members on tooling and processes such as CI/CD and productizationInteract with globally distributed open source project teams and communitiesCollaborate with the Product Manager, as well as the Quality Engineering, Program Management, and Documentation teamsEvangelize Knative and Red Hat Serverless through conference talks, blog posts, articles, etc.What will you bring5+ years of software development experienceAdvanced programming experience ideally in GoExperience with containers and Kubernetes platform developmentSolid understanding of the principles of reliable distributed systemsWritten and verbal English communication skillsPassion for open source software, positive attitude, and a desire to share ideas openlyOther tools a candidate should be familiar and comfortable with include: Git, Github/Pull Requests, JIRA, Linux, CI SystemsThe following are considered a plus:Experience with networking technology like Istio or Envoy is consideredExperience working on a distributed team with an agile methodologyExperience with other cloud vendors and technologies, particularly Azure Functions, AWS, or GKE is recommendedAbout Red Hat Red Hat is the world's leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
