We are looking for a Windows Server and Desktop Support Specialist who will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical support for Windows server and desktop environments, leveraging automated support and monitoring tools to enhance efficiency. This role also involves the management of Ink´s Active Directory that is used for remote device management, Windows imaging tools, cloud platforms, and developing applications using C#. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical support acumen and development skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Desktop Support:
Assist the support team as third-level support for Windows desktop environments, including hardware and software troubleshooting.
Utilise automated support and monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and security patching of devices.
Assist with the setup and support of peripheral devices (printers, scanners, scales, etc.).
Maintain an inventory of hardware and software assets.
Utilise Windows imaging tools to deploy and manage desktop images.
Creation and management of master Windows (11 and IoT) images.
Deployment images to supported devices.
Reporting on device health.
Cloud Platforms (Azure or AWS):
Knowledge of federated Active Directory Management
C# Development:
Develop, test, and maintain in-house applications and tools using C# and .NET. These tools need to work on both Windows and Linux environments.
Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver software solutions that enhance productivity and user experience.
Debug and resolve application issues, providing timely fixes and updates.
Document code and development processes to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in software development.
Collaboration and Communication:
Fluent business level English and Spanish
Experience of working under the ITIL Service Management Framework is a bonus.
Demonstrable experience of support tool use, and ticket management.
Experience of work closely with the Infrastructure, Development and generalist software support teams.
Experience of supporting project delivery.
Communicate effectively with users to understand and address their technical needs.
Provide training and guidance to colleagues to improve their knowledge and skills.
Document support activities and contribute to the IT knowledge base.
Qualifications:
Education:
Industry recognised server, client device or networking qualifications i.e. MCSE (Azure), CCNA. RHCSA etc
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Windows server and desktop support.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in C# development.
Experience with automated support and monitoring tools.
Experience using imaging tools.
Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms is a bonus
Experience of managing Active Directory
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Windows Server and client OS.
Knowledge of server and client antivirus, malware and security tools.
Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols.
Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy management.
Solid knowledge of C# and .NET framework.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Experience with automated support and monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Dynatrace, Automox, or similar).
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering high-quality support.
