The Vice President of Medical Strategy and Head of the Hematology / Oncology Center of Excellence (COE) provides strategic medical and scientific leadership, subject matter expertise, and guidance to IQVIA and its clients in Hematology and Oncology. The primary goal is to expand IQVIA's market share in these fields by developing targeted strategies. The role involves leading a team of hematologists and oncologists engaged in activities such as early customer engagement, proposal development for RFPs, participation in client bid defenses, acting as a subject matter expert throughout the research and development lifecycle, and providing independent customer solutions. Collaboration across organizational functions is essential to optimize resource utilization. The position encourages participation in thought leadership activities and may include managing up to 10 direct reports.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the strategic direction of the Hematology and Oncology Center of Excellence.
  2. Oversee strategic proposal development in collaboration with other functional leaders.
  3. Serve as a consultant to team members throughout the R&D lifecycle and clinical trial durations.
  4. Review and guide the COE business plans to ensure sustainable growth, providing recommendations to the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited, internationally recognized medical school, with subspecialty training in hematology or oncology, and at least 5 years of demonstrable experience in the relevant therapeutic area within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years outside of training, with experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or related fields; CRO experience is preferred.
  • Advanced business knowledge, general management, and leadership capabilities to lead teams effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers, and clients.
  • Excellent consulting skills, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% nationally and internationally, including same-day or overnight trips.
