Commercial Department
The Commercial Department is responsible for understanding and addressing the needs of DFD's retail operators and franchisees, ensuring the successful distribution and positioning of its brands.
This team acts as the primary link between the company's brands and its clients, leveraging internal and external communication touchpoints to build strong, long-lasting relationships.
Role Overview
The Global Commercial Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and driving the company's commercial strategy to achieve business growth and profitability. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a proven track record in driving sales, marketing, and business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
·Develop and execute global and brand-specific business plans aligned with the company's objectives.
·Identify new market opportunities and oversee the development of innovative business models.
·Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for brand categories and territories, projecting expected sales volumes and profit for existing and new brands.
·Meet quarterly and annual sales and profit goals through the implementation of effective sales and marketing strategies.
·Manage and lead a team of regional Sales Managers across DFD's three operational continents.
·Directly handle sales management related to the company's key global partners in collaboration with the commercial team.
·Develop relationships with senior executives of the brands represented by the company.
·Oversee purchasing management, including product selection and delivery planning, in coordination with a dedicated Commercial Analyst.
·Lead market analysis, prospecting, and new category/brand development efforts alongside the assigned Commercial Analyst.
·Collaborate with the financial and operations teams to ensure business efficiencies.
·Lead the team in monitoring competitive landscapes, market trends, and economic shifts to identify opportunities and threats and propose strategic initiatives.
·Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance reports.
·Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when necessary.
·Work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns.
Qualifications:
·Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong ability to operate autonomously.
·Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
·10+ years of proven experience in international retail, B2B sales, key account management, and business development, preferably within the travel retail sector.
·Familiarity with ERP systems (such as Netsuite), CRM apps (e.g Salesforce) and other data analytics tools.
·Demonstrated success in developing and implementing global commercial strategies.
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
·Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
·Fluent in English; additional languages such as Spanish or French are a plus.
·Ability to travel extensively.
