Automation Engineer

Ensures the optimal functioning of the assigned application(s) in a functional sense, maintaining the continuity and security of data and software.

Responsible for the accurate intake, resolution, or delegation of incidents, changes, and requests from customers related to functional and/or technical areas within the agreed service levels.

Participates in projects, potentially through the Competence Center, aimed at application roll-out within Nutreco and/or improving applications in functional and/or technical areas.

The Application Engineer supports the user organization and executes maintenance and management tasks for applications, contributing to the design and implementation of new ICT solutions.

Application KPIs are measured to ensure applications operate effectively and efficiently.

This role primarily acts on an operational level.

The Application Engineer reports hierarchically to a Team Lead within the Application Services Domain of the Global IT Services organization and has a global scope for the concerned applications.

Functionally, reports to the Process Information Manager if working within the Competence Center.

For Change & Release Management:

• Manages the CAB (Chairman), including agenda, invitations, and minutes.
• Ensures CAB involvement when necessary.
• Participates in the Global CAB with external service providers.
• Coordinates with external service providers to ensure smooth change progress.
• Verifies if a CAB review is needed for the Request for Change (RfC).
• Approves or rejects changes for building and implementation phases.
• Documents decision-making processes regarding Change & Release Management.
• Resolves issues and conflicts.
• Processes changes in the Nutreco service management tool.
• Informs stakeholders about production promotion and monthly change closures.
• Encourages creation and approval of Standard Changes.
• Explains processes, tooling, and external involvement to stakeholders.
• Applies procedures strictly when necessary and flexibly when possible.
• Reports on process performance.

Job Description:

Application Development:

• Specify and quantify capacity requirements for the technical infrastructure.
• Translate functional designs into technical designs.

Application Maintenance and Management:

• Manage and optimize applications daily, including high availability and quality tests.
• Perform system testing, configure standard software, and conduct acceptance testing.
• Resolve incidents and process changes, either self-executing or via suppliers.
• Analyze problems, implement improvements, and identify trends.
• Check control and security measures of hardware and software.
• Establish relevant application management documentation.

Application Support:

• Support users by resolving incidents and guiding new or custom solutions.
• Lead smaller projects for maintenance and act as technical project leader.

Management Advice/Reports:

• Report Service Level Management data/KPIs for assigned applications to GITS.
• Manage a team of developers, responsible for staff development, workload, and objectives.

Change & Release Management:

• Manage the Change & Release process to ensure smooth services.
• Responsible for all changes within the domain, including production releases.
• Ensure process efficiency, effectiveness, and SLA compliance through measurement and continuous improvement.
