Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior 3D Character Artist with 5-7 years of professional experience in the gaming industry. As a Senior 3D Character Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, detailed, and visually compelling 3D character models that bring our game worlds to life. You will lead the character art pipeline, collaborate with other departments, and help define the artistic direction for characters in our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- 3D Modeling: Expertise in 3D modeling for stylized characters, environments, and props, focusing on exaggerated forms, creative shapes, and artistic detail. Proficiency in creating high-poly and low-poly models, with an understanding of how to optimize for performance without sacrificing artistic integrity.
- Texturing and Shading: Advanced skills in texturing and shading stylized assets, using tools such as Substance Painter, ZBrush, and Photoshop to create distinctive and detailed surfaces. Knowledge of UV mapping and unwrapping techniques suitable for stylized models.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of industry-standard 3D software (e.g., Autodesk Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D). Familiarity with sculpting tools (e.g., ZBrush, Mudbox) and texturing software (e.g., Substance Suite, Mari).
- Artistic Vision: Strong sense of visual storytelling, with the ability to translate abstract concepts into visually compelling stylized art. Understanding of color theory, composition, and design principles as they apply to stylized 3D art.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering. Experience in optimizing assets for performance while maintaining visual quality.
- Collaboration and Mentorship: Strong collaboration skills for working with art directors, animators, and other team members to ensure the consistent application of the stylized vision. Experience in mentoring junior artists, providing feedback, and sharing knowledge on stylization techniques.
- Adaptability and Innovation: Ability to adapt artistic techniques based on project feedback and evolving requirements. Staying current with trends and advancements in 3D art and stylization, incorporating new tools and methods to enhance production quality.
