Applicative Dba

Within IT Flat Europe organization, the Digital & IT Supply chain department is responsible for the IT Strategy of the Supply Chain function, including efficiency (process and system exploitation and optimization).

We are a transversal IT organization operating at Flat Europe level. Our department is focused on bringing uniform IT applications to all clusters, with cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions. In this position, the candidate will be part of our central European D&IT Supply Chain team in Technology team and in direct contact with development teams (offshore and onshore), functional architects, product owners.

The Applicative Database Administrator plays a critical role in designing the new integration of DB services using Cloud (Azure), identifying solutions, and maintaining them (proactive performances), and providing user support.

Responsibilities

• Design the database services on cloud (Azure) or hosted services (PaaS, IaaS)
• Design database services of high availability and quality depending on requirements
• Administrate and act as an expert for MSSQL servers and Oracle (less used in the landscape)
• Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
• Take into account the security policies
• Be part of task forces to fix performance issues
• Be proactive regarding performance, service-oriented
• Advise developers on using frameworks
• Enforce and document database policies, procedures, and standards
• Ensure that the platform is reliable and performant through testing, automation, and monitoring
• Collaborate with other technical teams:
  • With platforms teams (containers, software packages)
  • With architects and developers for optimizing their experience
  • Act and contribute in an Agile way

Profile

• Education: Master’s degree in IT or a related technical field.
• Experience: Experience in a similar position would be an asset.
• Previous experience: Previous experience in application development is a clear advantage.

  • Technical Knowledge:
    • RDBMS Database: MSSQL, (Oracle)
    • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.
    • Azure Cloud: IaaS, PaaS.
    • Windows Server, Linux.
    • Development experience: Knowledgeable on .NET is a plus.
    • Distributed systems management concepts, networking.
    • Automation and scripting skills (Terraform, Ansible).
    • Former and good experience in development CI/CD.
    • Excellent team spirit and strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken).

• Reporting line: head of platform services and Tooling.
• Your office location and if business trips are required (%):
  • Location position: Aviles, Spain.
  • 1 or 2 times per year to Ghent.
