A Snapshot of Your Day:
The Business Unit Sustainable Energy (TI SES) develops, manufactures and sells innovative Hydrogen and Power-to-X systems, solutions and services based on the SILYZER portfolio. With this innovative electrochemical system, water is split into its components hydrogen H2 and oxygen O2 using the PEM (Proton Exchange membrane) and (green) electricity. By helping our customers in the industrial, energy and mobility sectors to decarbonize their processes we are taking a further step towards a sustainable future. You can set the tone for this new business and contribute your enthusiasm and experience in a small, pragmatic team with global responsibility for hydrogen projects.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Responsible for overall process engineering design for electrolyser plants throughout the life of the project and development phase.
- Manage the engineering team and respective tasks during bid preparation.
- Review and comment on customer specifications during the bidding phase.
- Identify all project-specific deviations from the reference plant and the resulting changes, deciding with the bid manager on strategies and resulting efforts.
- Responsible for technical clarification with vendors and release of RFQs (purchasing specifications) for systems and components.
- Drive process and design improvements focusing on efficiency enhancement and design to cost measures.
- Develop test instructions and use test rigs for design verification as well as develop and maintain process design tools.
- Identify technical gaps to ensure quality of engineering deliverables and request support from other technical experts if needed.
- Review project-specific process engineering design and documentation by providing technical expertise to the project execution team.
- Collaborate with other engineering fields, purchasing department and R&D organization as well as actively manage internal and external engineering partners.
- Provide support and guidance to the team for system & equipment design, development of data sheets, P&IDs and I&C specification and definition of process guarantees.
- Provide specifications for automation of various subsystems and unit master control as well as support in HAZOP, risk assessment and SIL study for various subsystems.
- Ensure design guidelines and relevant engineering codes and standards are met.
- Responsible for reference plant documentation as well as erection and commissioning support.
What You Bring:
- The successful completion of a master's degree in process engineering or related engineering areas.
- Intensive working experience in engineering or other technical functions and ability to deal with the interface requirements of partners.
- In-depth knowledge of electrolysis technology and design.
- Knowledge of codes and standards – DIN/ ASME / API / ANSI / NEMA / NPFA etc.
- Expertise in the field of operational concepts, I&C systems and DCS specifications.
- Commissioning experience and basic knowledge in fact finding, test definition, troubleshooting & plant performance evaluation.
- Competencies in engineering tools such as COMOS and deep understanding of P&IDs methodology, valve and heat exchanger design, gas analysis and water chemistry (incl. sampling & dosing).
- Good decision-making skills and independent working capability.
- Teamwork & collaboration capabilities including communication skills.
- Fluent knowledge of English & German as well as intercultural sensitivity and willingness to travel.
- Great passion for the area of energy transition and decarbonization.
- Flexibility and agility in a dynamic environment characterized by personal responsibility and initiative.
